Mumbai

On 6^th July 2019, I board Rajdhani express to Mumbai. I am excited as well nervous for I am going to shift to a completely new city. Train departs as scheduled and a few hours in train I am lying on my berth; I am thinking about the time in Mumbai ahead. I am happy to think about the time I will spend meeting my friends there but at the same time I am also uneasy about what if I end up being very alone in the new office.

So next morning I reach the hotel at Andheri east where I was supposed to stay. I meet this guy from the finance team, Rahul. He had come to the hotel late in the morning and when I knocked on the door, I think I disturbed him a bit. He opens the gate and goes back to bed again without greeting and all of that. I put all my bags inside and started making a few mandatory calls back to mmy family informing them that I’ve safely reached and am comfortable. When I was making the calls, I was talking in a normal voice; but it disturbed Rahul and he told me to hang up or make calls outside the room. I should have done that in the first place. I did not know then that Rahul had come late from office and he needed to rest and sleep.  I went outside and finished talking to my parents. So, my first day in Mumbai started on an off note. However, I was hopeful enough for positive days ahead. 

That day itself when Rahul left for some office work, I thought of exploring the city through the window. I opened the window and what I saw was beyond belief. If anything, I was happy about Mumbai before coming was that in Mumbai I was going to meet Sonal and we were going to spend a lot of time together and have lots of fun. I could not believe my eyes when I saw Sonal’s Apartment building through my window. I had been to Mumbai once before, so I vividly remembered how the apartment building looked, and to confirm I could see Vasant Oasis written on top of it. I was ecstatic and my happiness knew no measures. Sonal’s place was hardly 1 km from my stay. I thought to myself, now we can meet as and when we want. I was so happy at that moment that I could not contain it for even a minute, I instantly called Sonal and told her that I could not believe that I was seeing her building clear and tall in front of me. She was as happy as me to know that I was staying very close. We decided that we’d meet later that day. Later that day, we would meet and catch up on a lot of college memories.
